Taking their name from ‘a troop of ithyphallic male companions of Dionysus with goat-like features and often permanent erection’ the Manchester / Pre- ston alliance of Saytr (Say-Ter) Play first started out as an acoustic duo with founding members Fred Farrell (Vocals) and Jamie Vere (Lead Guitar). The current line up cemented when Paul Kershaw (Drums) and Daniel Crowther (Bass) joined them during their second year at the University of Central Lancashire.

Where the band have been compared to bands such as The Kooks, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Vampire Weekend, those of us with shall we say (ahem) ‘longer memories’ personally see a huge slab of pre-arena JAMES, reminiscent of the lilting melodic early recordings from the ‘Village Fire’ EP.
