Fast becoming a Phenomenon – Clash Magazine

The Amazons are a blistering, melodic rock quartet from Reading. Born and raised Reading locals, Matt, Joe, Elliot and Chris take the aggression of grunge and punk and spice it with melody and harmony.

Diving into a live performance from the fearsome four engulfs the senses. The band is fronted by Matt Thomson, a towering powerhouse with a vocal range that typifies the band’s musical blend. Joe Emmett, a thunderous metronome behind the drums, Elliot Briggs on bass and Chris Alderton adding infectious guitar riffs come together to create The Amazons.

The Amazons started 2015 with impressive momentum. Having released debut track ‘Something In The Water’ on Soundcloud at the end of last year, the band gained a substantial following. The psychedelic instrumentation, melodic hooks and explosive crescendo of the demo, which lasts a little over five minutes, is all listeners have needed to perpetuate the excitement surrounding The Amazons. With plays from Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Annie Mac, as well as fervent backing from BBC Introducing in Berkshire, The Amazons are gathering fans nationwide.
